How it works: Mauritius uses a simplified 3-band progressive income tax system since the Finance Act 2025, effective 1 July 2025. The first MUR 500,000 is tax-free, the next MUR 500,000 is taxed at 10%, and everything above MUR 1,000,000 at 20%. Married couples filing jointly can double these thresholds. The Fair Share Contribution (FSC) is a temporary 15% surcharge on individuals earning above MUR 12M, from July 2025 to June 2028. Self-employed pay CSG social charges at 3% of 90% of net income. There is no capital gains tax, no inheritance tax and no wealth tax in Mauritius.
